Mike is a father of two young boys, and a husband. When he isn't working, he's constantly in search of the next auto restoration project, and sometimes even works on the current one. As a family, the Burleys love cycling and have taken part in the last two RABGRAI bike rides across Iowa.
Early on, Mike worked as an assistant to Sports Illustrated photographer John W. McDonough while getting his B.A. in visual-journalism from Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, Calif., where he and his wife, Sara, were raised. Mike has been a staff photojournalist and wedding photographer for 15 years, traveling all over the country. Mike's been a staff photographer for the Pulitzer Prize winning Topeka Capital-Journal, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Dubuque Telegraph-Herald and was a regular contributor to the Chicago Tribune. Mike's had photos published in Time Magazine, New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, USA Today, and several other national publications. Locally, Mike was the cover photographer for Her Magazine and DBQ Magazine for past 7 years, and also dabbles in automotive journalism. Currently, Mike shoots weddings all over the midwest and shoots commercial photography.
